Clean your oven with soap in 4 easy steps. Here’s how!

In this blog, we explain how to clean your oven in a few simple steps, completely without harsh chemicals.

1. Start by brushing all the loose debris out of the oven with a brush. Remove the rack, but do not remove parts that are not meant to be removed. If the instruction manual does not say that the parts can be removed for cleaning, do not try to remove them. Instead, leave them in place and clean around them.

This is what you need:

When it comes to soap, it’s much easier to clean the oven with a fatty soap. Fat dissolves fat—the like dissolves like principle. Dirt in the oven is often fat. What isn’t fat is food residue from plants or animals. A rule of thumb for natural cleaning is to use something alkaline to remove residue from plants or animals. Soapa is both fatty and alkaline.

Another advantage of solid soap is that it is so firm and thick that you can make a thick foam from it without it running down the oven’s walls and ceiling.

2. Work the Soapa into all the oven’s surfaces with a little water. Some ovens have parts that can be removed and cleaned separately.

3. Turn the oven on at 150–180 degrees for about 20 minutes. For extra effectiveness, place a bowl of water inside. It’s the steam we want! Hot water and Soapa work well together.

4. Be careful when you start wiping out the oven! Let the water cool before you start wiping out the oven. Another option is to leave the oven with the Soapa in it overnight and continue the next day.
Use the eco-fiber cloth when wiping it out, and you’ll see that the dirt comes off much more easily now. Wipe it out with a damp cloth.

If the rack is badly burnt, it may need to be covered with Soapa and water and left overnight before being wiped with an eco-fiber cloth and water.

This is what it looks like when it’s finished!
