Avoid harsh chemicals—let the liquid soap do the work

Cleaning oven trays can be endlessly exhausting and make anyone resort to harsh chemicals or simply give up altogether.

You don't need to do that—cleaning oven trays with liquid soap is truly the “lazy person's” way to do it! There is no reason to work on the trays unnecessarily. Let the liquid soap and time do the job!

I use Västerbottenssåpa kitchen liquid soap, which you can find here: Kitchen Cleaning Kit

How to do it – step by step

1. Apply liquid soap to the tray

Apply a little water and plenty of liquid soap to the tray. Here, kitchen liquid soap, unscented and in a pump bottle, is used, but solid liquid soap also works. A good habit is to always use unscented products for anything related to the kitchen and cooking.

2. Wrap the tray in plastic

We put the tray into a regular garbage bag, one from each side, and seal it.

3. Leave the tray for one day

After one day, open the bag slightly and test it with an eco-fiber cloth or a copper scrubber. If the dirt comes off easily, simply scrub it off, rinse, and dry.

What should I do if the dirt remains?

Is the dirt still stuck? Repeat the process! Add more liquid soap and a little water so that the tray is damp, and seal the bag again.

The important thing is that the entire baking tray is covered with liquid soap and water and that it does not dry out.
After another day, repeat. Check whether the dirt is coming off. If not, add more liquid soap/water and seal again.

This tray was badly burned and had to sit for 4 days. Then the burned-on residue came off easily when we scrubbed it a little with the copper scrubber and eco-fiber cloth, and the tray looked brand new again.

What do I need to clean the oven?

We have put together a kit with eEverything you need to clean your kitchen without harsh chemicals and perfumes.

The package contains only unscented products—we believe perfumes do not belong in a kitchen. The kitchen should be cleaned so that it smells fresh without perfumes. Covering up bad smells in the kitchen with perfumes is not a good idea; it should be naturally clean here because this is where we handle the food we eat and consume.

You can find the kit here: Kitchen Cleaning Kit
