How to use traditional soft soap in a jar

Sara Idenfors

In this post, we share tips and uses for solid soap. It is important to choose a solid soap, not a sticky variety with a consistency more like filmjölk. We show how to use solid soap to clean all kitchen surfaces, pre-treat stains, scrub floors, treat old scrubbed wooden floors, and clean the oven, grill grate, and tile and floor-tile grout.

In the past, all soap was solid; that is, it was not liquid in a bottle or container but so thick that it was packaged and sold in blocks, like butter and margarine are sold in stores today.

In this post, we show you how to use solid soap.

When you buy solid soap, also called concentrated soap, make sure it is actually solid. If you get a sticky soap with a consistency more like filmjölk, you have not found the old-fashioned version.

Many people Google and search for Rensåpa in a jar. Rensåpa is or was a brand name, not a term for this particular type of soap. So search for solid soap or old-fashioned soap instead to find the right product online.

Watch the video clip below; here we show you how to do it!

Tips and Uses

  1. All kitchen surfaces except windows—do not clean glass with soap.
  2. Cutting boards
  3. Oven trays
  4. Pre-treat greasy stains
  5. Scrub floors
  6. Treat traditional scrubbed wooden floors
  7. Clean the oven
  8. Clean the grill grate
  9. Clean tile and floor-tile grout
