How do I clean the washing machine?

Sara Idenfors

1. Wipe away dirt and clean the rubber seal

Start by wiping away all visible dirt with soap spray and a cloth. Carefully clean the rubber seal and wipe both it and the door. The seal is often double-layered, and things can get trapped inside it.

2. Clean the detergent drawer

Some machines are designed so that the detergent drawer can be removed. If possible, take it out and wash it with soap and a brush. If it cannot be removed, use soap spray and a cloth to wipe it clean. Then mix baking soda with water and wipe the drawer again.

3. Remove limescale deposits

If you see limescale deposits on the detergent drawer, you can easily remove them with our limescale removal gel—but don't forget to wipe it afterward. Avoid putting the drawer back in the machine as it is, since this may cause excessive foaming.

Then pour a couple of tablespoons of vinegar into the washing machine drum and run a 90°C cycle with no laundry in the machine.

How often should you clean the washing machine?

We recommend doing this twice a year to keep the machine fresh. It is especially important if you often wash at lower temperatures.
