How was the deck soap tested?

Short answer

The soap was tested on old impregnated wood in a standardized laboratory procedure in which wood samples were treated with a soap solution, brushed mechanically, and then visually evaluated. To assess the conditioning effect, a panel test was also conducted in which five people evaluated the feel of the wood surface.
