Care for your brushes with brush care for natural-material brushes

Sara Idenfors

In summary, it is important to take care of your brushes to keep them in good condition. After use, they should be dried thoroughly to prevent moisture-related damage. Wash the brushes regularly with a little soap and warm water to remove skin buildup and soap residue, but avoid using strong cleaning agents that can damage the natural material. In addition, the brushes should be cleaned of hair, and the wooden parts should be oiled with vegetable oil at regular intervals to prevent cracking. This care can significantly extend the brushes' lifespan.

With proper care, a sturdy brush made of wood and animal hair will last indefinitely.

How to care for brushes:

Make sure the brushes always dry after use. Never leave them in, for example, a wet bathtub.

Wash them, especially the bristles with a little Soapa and warm water. This removes any skin deposits and soap residue from the bristles. Do not use any harsh products for this, as they can damage the hair, which is a natural material.

Also clean the brushes of, for example, hairs. The online store has special small brushes/tools for caring for and cleaning brushes.

Oil the wooden handles, knobs, and brush heads—not the bristles themselves, the hair—at regular intervals and always when your brush looks dry and the wood is very light in color. This will prevent the wood from cracking. Use a vegetable oil; we have used olive oil, but corn, rapeseed, or linseed oil work just as well.

There! Now the brushes will last forever
