Clean your car’s interior in an eco-friendly way

Cleaning the inside of your car doesn’t have to involve harsh chemicals or expensive products. With simple supplies such as soap, lukewarm water, and a few smart tools, you can make your car feel like new without harming the environment. Here, we’ll go through step by step how to thoroughly and gently clean your car’s interior.

You’ll also get smart household tips that really work, such as how to get rid of bad odors, stains on the seats, and dirty seat belts. Follow the guide below for a cleaner car without hassle!

Step-by-step guide

Step 1:

Remove and sort the rubbish.

Step 2:

Vacuum the car thoroughly; now you’ve done the worst 😉

Pet hair

If you have pet hair in the car, it can be difficult to remove. The best option here is a Lint brush, a special brush for hair. Alternatively, you can use a rubber squeegee or window scraper to remove hair from textiles.

Step 3:

Wipe the dashboard with a  soft cloth, a little lukewarm water, and possibly a little  soap if needed. Be careful with the radio display, GPS screens, etc.; they should preferably only be dusted. If they have grease stains, clean them with soft paper towels or a cloth, a drop of soap, and a little water. Exercise the utmost caution here!

Step 4:

Wipe leather seats/upholstery with soap and a soft cloth. It is a good idea to dry them afterward.

You can remove stains from fabric seats with a soft sponge, a little lukewarm water, and soap; press and dry, press and dry until the stain is gone.

Step 5:

Car seat belts can absorb odors, and in summer they may even end up with a little ice cream or something similar on them. Cigarette smoke and sweat are the worst, though, as they can settle into the seat belt and make the entire car smell bad. Here’s how to fix it:

– Pull out the seat belt and attach a binder clip to it.
– Wipe the belt with soap and lukewarm water. If the belts are really dirty, you may need to scrub them with a soft nail brush and soap. If so, scrub along the belt, not across it, as this can damage the belt.
– Wipe the dried belt clean with a slightly damp cloth.
– Leave the clip in place so the belt can dry in the extended position.

Vinegar

- Polish the car window with a mixture of vinegar, soap, and water.

- A picnic knife and cloth are useful for edges and corners that are otherwise difficult to clean. Never use a tool that could scratch the interior.

- Clean dusty air vents most easily with a bottle brush.
- Bad odors: leave a small bowl of vinegar in the car overnight—vinegar “eats” bad odors.

The muffin liner tip

Muffin liners save you the effort of wiping out the cup holders.
