Clean your car like a pro

Sara Idenfors

We give tips on how to clean your car like a professional, focusing on doing so in an environmentally friendly way while also making the car look as good as new.

How do you clean the inside of a car?

The best way to clean your car is to start by removing rubbish, vacuuming thoroughly, and then cleaning the rubber mats, seals, and interior with a mild, superfat soap. This gives you a clean, fresh car without harsh chemicals, gentle both on you and the environment.

Here's how!

1. Declutter and organize
Remove all rubbish and unnecessary items. Sort paper, plastic, and other materials for recycling. Store loose objects securely—nothing should roll around while you drive.

2. Vacuum the interior
Start with the mats, then take them out of the car. Continue vacuuming the entire car: seats, floor, compartments, and trunk.

3. Wash the rubber mats and seals
Use lukewarm water and a superfat soap, such as Soapa, to clean mats and door seals. They will regain their shine and look as good as new. Rinse and let dry.

4. Wipe down the interior
Use a lightly dampened cloth with a little soap to gently clean plastic and fabric surfaces. Avoid getting the interior too wet.

ADVANCED – for the cleaning enthusiast

1. Make sure you have waste/trash bags in the car so you don't have to store rubbish on the floor or in the door pockets.
2. Always keep a pack of baby wipes in the car. Then you're prepared for anything that may happen … and can wipe off both things and your own or other people's hands in the event of, for example, ice cream incidents 😉

What cleaning tip do we give for making old rubber mats look as good as new?
By using lukewarm water and a superfat soap, such as Soapa, you can restore the oils and shine to tired, dried-out rubber mats. Then simply rinse and wipe them with a cloth to make them look as good as new.
