Let’s talk about fragrances

🎄. Let’s talk about fragrances, perfumes, and essential oils. Our products either contain no perfume at all (gray labels) or a small amount of carefully reviewed and selected perfume. None of our products need warning symbols on the back—feel free to compare them with your other products. We do not make products that harm you or the environment, so they do not smell strong for precisely this reason.
🚬. Did you know that research shows that cleaning with cleaning sprays is just as bad for your lungs as smoking?
.
👃🏻. Did you know that a perfume can contain between 10 and 300 different chemicals, depending on its complexity?
.
When you smell one of our products: Put the product on a clean cloth, add warm water and ready-mixed spray, or pump soap from the bottle onto the cloth, and smell it now!
.
⚗️. If you want a cleaning product to smell very strong, look for warning symbols and a low price. Cheap products are often rich in perfumes and chemicals.
Essential oils used as perfumes have some disadvantages. One is that they often contain allergens; the other is that they are oils. Soft soap and real soap contain natural, readily biodegradable surfactants. (All dishwashing, laundry, and cleaning products contain some form of surfactant.) The surfactant penetrates the grease (the greasy dirt) with its hydrophobic tail and leaves its hydrophilic surfactant head on the outside. That is what happens when, for example, you put dish soap on a greasy plate and wash it. Without dish soap (surfactant), the plate does not become clean—that is how a surfactant works. If you add essential oils to a product that contains surfactants, the surfactants will break down and destroy the essential oil as well. They do not distinguish between fats; they attack everything in the same way. That is why it is difficult, or impossible, to make an essential oil work as a perfume in soft soap—it will be destroyed. What you can do is buy our unscented soft soap and add essential oil to the cleaning bucket when using it. It will not have time to break down, and you can choose the scent yourself :) Be careful with essential oils and perfumes, as they are highly concentrated and often contain allergens.
