Eco-friendly move-out cleaning—the ultimate checklist with everything you need

  • Here is an eco-friendly moving-out cleaning guide – room by room – with checklists for every part of the home. All tips are based on natural and eco-friendly products, such as soap.



🧼 Before moving-out cleaning – you will need:


- Soapa (or another natural soap)

- Limescale remover from Soapa

- Baking soda

- Microfiber cloths, Cloths

- Scrub brush

- Soap spray

- Vacuum cleaner and mop



🏠 Entire home – checklist

 

✔️ Move out furniture and belongings, sort and throw away all rubbish. Make sure the home is cleared of everything except the ceiling lights.

✔️ Vacuum all floors, baseboards, and radiators

✔️ Mop the floors with soapy water. 6 tbsp of soap per 10 l of water for wood and stone/tiles, 1–2 tbsp for synthetic floors.

✔️ Wipe down doors, handles, and wall outlets

✔️ Wipe window frames and sills with soap spray and a soft cloth.
Clean the windows with window cleaner from Soapa to get it done quickly and leave them sparkling.

✔️ Clean the ventilation (remove the grilles and wash them with Soapa)

✔️ Dust ceilings and walls with a dry mop



🍽️ Kitchen – checklist

✔️ Clean the fridge & freezer (unplug, defrost, wipe with soap spray) Also clean behind them.

✔️ Oven: coat with soap, warm slightly, leave to work, wipe clean, and scrape the oven glass with a window scraper. Removable parts can be coated with soap and left overnight to loosen dirt.

✔️ Clean stovetops/hobs with soap and eco-fiber cloth. Polish to a shine with glass cleaner. Baking soda + warm water + soap can be used for heavy dirt when an abrasive effect is needed.

✔️ Wipe kitchen cabinets inside and out, including the tops, with soap spray

✔️ Clean the sink with soap and eco-fiber cloth, then rinse with hot water

✔️ Clean the P-trap if possible

✔️ Wipe tiles and backsplashes with soap and a sponge or eco-fiber cloth. Polish to a shine with glass cleaner. Refrigerators, extractor hoods, and other shiny surfaces are best polished with glass cleaner.



🚿 Bathroom – checklist

✔️ Clean the toilet with soap and a brush, add drops of the limescale remover and leave it to work if limescale deposits are present. Return and clean once the limescale remover has taken effect. 

✔️ Wipe tiles, taps, and shower walls with vinegar solution

✔️ Clean the floor drain (gloves!) Scrub details with soap using a scrubbing brush in a bucket of soapy water.

✔️ Wipe bathroom cabinets and mirrors (use soapy water and window cleaner)

✔️ Polish the mirror with window cleaner

✔️ Descale the showerhead – apply limescale remover overnight



🛏️ Bedroom & living room – checklist

✔️ Wipe wardrobes inside and out with soap spray

✔️ Vacuum mattresses, baseboards, and floors

✔️ Mop under beds and furniture, if anything remains

✔️ Wipe windowsills and frames

✔️ Clean electrical outlets, doors, and handles with a damp cloth



🚪 Hallway & entryway – checklist

✔️ Wipe doors, hat rack, and shoe racks

✔️ Polish the mirror if there is one

✔️ Clean the entryway mat with soapy water or shake it out and air it

✔️ Mop floors and wipe baseboards



♻️ Eco-friendly cleaning tips to remember

🔸 Soapa + water goes a long way – use as an all-purpose cleaner

🔸 Limescale remover = effective against limescale and watermarks. Do not use on natural stone such as marble.

🔸 Baking soda = gentle scrub for stovetops, ovens, and grout

🔸 Avoid disposable cloths – use washable cloths or microfiber

🔸 Ventilate the home thoroughly afterwards
